Biography of Eco-Translation Services’ principal, Denis Couillard, C. Tran. (Canada), OTTIAQ

Denis has been a certified translator with the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec since 1993, and the Association of translators and interpreters of Ontario since 1998.

Denis is currently the Secretary on the Board of Directors for the Association of translators and interpreters of Ontario and the Vice-President of the of Canadian Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters Council.

Denis has a degree in translation from Université Laval and a Masters Certificate in Project Management from the Schulich School of Business at York University.

In 2009, Denis founded Eco-Translation Services in order to provide leading clients in health care advocacy and marketing with high quality and timely: English-French translation; proof reading; and, copy-editing services.

With almost 30 years of experience in the translation profession, Denis managed for 10 years the translation services of what was then one of the largest research-based pharmaceutical companies in Canada. Until recently, Denis was a senior translator-revisor with a Fortune 500 manufacturer of medical devices, pharmaceuticals and consumer packaged goods.

During that time, Denis translated or coordinated the translation of marketing, regulatory and training materials associated with the launch of 11 new pharmaceutical products and indications, including a number of first-in-class blockbuster drugs and biologics.

In 2006, one of Denis’ projects was a finalist in the Prix FrancoPub, organized by the Office québécois de la langue française (OQLF) to recognize advertising messages that respects excellence in the French language.

Previously, Denis was the director of the Toronto office of the largest provider of translation services in Canada, publicist with TFO, the French language network of TVOntario, as well as Project Coordinator and French Language Coordinator with the Ontario Heritage Foundation.
